In particular, the precincts of Sensoji Temple are famous and in the Bunkabunsei period (1806 ~ 1829) there were about 120 crowded toothpick stores. At Edo sightseeing plot, you can see that the toothpick store was crowded in the precincts. The number of people who gradually use toothpicks has increased, and from the late stage of Edo it is impossible to respond to demand only by manufacturing at stores.

Simofusa Koga, Kururi of Kazusa, Tamukushi village of Kawachi, Nadasho of Wakasa, Tateishi village of Buzen etc. are famous. Furukawa and Kururi were the Asakusa Temple, Tamakushi Village was taken to Dotonbori, and Nadasho ‘s was brought to Shijo's toothpick store. In both cases Poplar tree and spice bush were abundant in the vicinity and developed close to the point of consumption. Kawachinagano sold many spice bushes itself in the vicinity in the early days of the Meiji era to the Osaka manufacturers. Ohya Cyohei of Takou village in Minami Kawachi-gun began to manufacture "spice bush toothpick" in about in 1880. It is the beginning.
